When I bought my ticket for the "Rock en France" tour in Paris's Elysée Montmartre, I didn't really care about Opposition. The main act was a gothic band called Fields of the Nephilim. The band plays a very powerfull rock that could soundtrack the travel scene of the film "2001 space odyssey". Fields is also known for McCoy's voice, as the singer has the lowest voice possible.

While waiting for the doors to open, I was very surprised by some people wearing black sport knickers with this simple word "Opposition" written on a leg. Some had shaved heads and I thought some old punks were coming to see Fields ;-)

When the doors opened, we found a band on stage that was playing, what we thought was a soundcheck, but in fact happened to be the real thing. They never mind the audience, and talked to the sound ingenieer, asking him to modify sound effects and monitors. They finally addressed a simple "Goodbye, we are the Freluquet, see you next time". Weird ...

After some minutes, Opposition entered the stage. The audience reaction was udge. I had the feeling I finally heard the music I was dreaming of. For some bass lover like me, Marcus's bass sound was just loud enough ;-). The floor was vibrating, and the singer's voice was so heartful, moving and sensual

I think I remember they started with "Her first migraine" and Béatrice Dalle's voice in "Betty Blue". Never, appart at Pink Floyd's gigs have I heard such a well balanced sound, and the audience was singing all the lyrics along with Marc. I wondered where I could have been all these years to miss such a good band with such an audience.

But after searching over the net all these years, it seems Opposition fans are hard to find ;-)
